The Institute of Medicine (IOM) is the main organisation responsible for training health professionals in Nepal. Its seven campuses and 16 affiliated campuses provide more than 25 courses ranging from proficiency certificate level to postgraduate degrees in medicine, public health, paramedics, nursing and traditional medicine. The IoM also plays an important role in medical research.

NHRC is the government body responsible for overseeing the carrying out of health related research in Nepal.

The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) is the professional organisation for Nepalese doctors. It is responsible for registering doctors and teaching institutes, for regulating the conduct of doctors and teaching institutes and for representing the interests of doctors.

The Nepal Nursing Council (NNC) is the professional organisation for Nepalese nurses. It is responsible for registering nurses and teaching institutes, for regulating the conduct of nurses and teaching institutes and for representing the interests of the nursing profession.

NESOG is the professional organisation of Nepalese obstetricians and gynaecologists

The Safe Motherhood Network Federation Nepal is the professional organisation of a non-profit organisation founded in 1996 to address maternal mortality and neo-natal health. SMNF-Nepal has members in 71 districts with more than 675 organisations under its umbrella.
